Our Doctors

dr_harschberger_webDr. Daniel Hershberger is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley’s Department of Physiology and U.C. Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 1981. After working in emergency medicine for 4 years, he came to All Pets Hospital in 1985. Dr. Hershberger is a member of the California and American Veterinary Medical Associations and the San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association. He is also an affiliate member of the American Animal Hospital Association. His special interests include canine and feline orthopedics and geriatric medicine.

 

Outside of work, Dr. Hershberger can be found traveling, cycling, and volunteering with Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) and International Veterinary Outreach (IVO).

 

dr_herman_webDr. Alex Herman, BS, DVM, earned a BS in Biology and Drawing from the University of Minnesota in 1992, and DVM from UC Davis in 1997.  She started at All Pets Hospital in 1997, adding the nondomestic/exotic surgery and medicine service to what was a dog and cat only practice at that time. Dr Herman has special interests in dentistry, internal medicine, and surgery for all species.  She is an active member of the California Veterinary Medicine Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. She is also a graduate of the American Animal Hospital Association’s Veterinary Management Institute.  In addition to her work at All Pets she has provided relief services for the Oakland Zoo for the last ten years, and consults The Aquarium of the Bay on their North American River Otters.

Off work she is usually training for or recovering from running a half marathon, gardening, traveling, or just enjoying life with her husband Ed and son Joe. She also volunteers in Berkeley public schools, tutoring and reading to elementary students.

dr_bar_webDr. Vered Bar graduated from Albright College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received a Masters in Laboratory Animal Science in 1995 from Hahnemann/Drexel University. In 1999 she graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a VMD (Veterinary Medical Doctor). Dr. Bar joined All Pets in April 2009 and quickly became one of our team. Dr. Bar’s professional interests include surgery, oncology, emergency, and internal medicine. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, and San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association. She is the proud recipient of the 2015-2016 UC Davis Don Low Fellowship in Medical Oncology.

Dr. Bar also volunteers her medical and surgical services with IVO, a student run organization founded at UC Davis. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, running with her dog, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her two cats.

Dr. Elizabeth Gilbert grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and went to school at the University of Michigan where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Anthropology and Zoology in 2004.

She graduated from Michigan State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2010 and went on to complete her small animal internship in San Diego, with a focus in emergency medicine. Following her internship Dr. Gilbert practiced in Southern California and Florida before relocating to San Francisco over 2 years ago. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, and San Francisco Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery as well as exotic animal medicine and surgery, as well as volunteering. She has worked internationally with Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) as well as Veterinary Street Outreach Services (Vet SOS) in San Francisco.

When not working, Dr. Gilbert enjoys spending time at home with her boyfriend Tyler and two cats Bonzai and Luna. You can often find her traveling, playing the piano, cooking, and participating in almost any type of outdoor activity.
